I must write before I say anything else that this was one of the few football matches I have ever regretted going to! We lost 4-1 in rain so torrential there were spells of the game when I couldn't tell what was happening in the far penalty box. It was horrible, I was absolutely drenched and about a quarter of Millwall fans left at HT.
In terms of everything, this ground was terrible.
The ground is a fair walk (10-15 mins) from Preston Park train station which is not the most accessible station ever. Semi regular from Brighton. Parking is next to impossible due to heavy restrictions around the ground so parking in Brighton can be necessary. Not a lot around near the ground in terms of shops, pubs etc either.
You are open to the element and are sitting on a temporary stand made of scaffolding. It is grim on a good day (so I was told by my Dad and brother). I did not go on a good day. It rained continuously and relentlessly. I was drenched. When trying to leave my feet and ankles got even more wet as the only way out was flooded. The view is also awful on account of the running track around the outside making you far further away from the pitch than is in anyway called for!
There was one small portacabin. It was fairly tidy but there were not enough facilities and they were rather unfragrant.
There was one burger van inside the ground. I queued for 15 minutes before the game and still wasn't at the front of the queue, which was a wide front of the queue with just two people serving. I don't know what I would have ordered because the offering was poor at best.
They were not overly noticeable but one or two were in jovial mood outside in spite of the weather and there was no trouble at the game.
No chance of an atmosphere given the conditions. Most of the noise was Millwall fas jumping up and down to keep warm on the scaffolding stand, which I did fear for at one point.
