Bristol Rovers 4-2 Millwall
The ground is a mis-match of stands, both covered and open, standing and seated and largely sponsored by beer companies!
The layout is quite unusual with a combined total of 5 stands down the sides. Many of these stands look as though parts are new and parts are very old. Whilst I find old grounds have character this all seemed somehow uncomfortable.
The view from the away section wasn't superb, it felt like the away section of many modern grounds where you are placed in the corner but actually it's an old ground without corners with away fans kept just either side.
There is plenty of parking both on local streets and for a small charge next to the ground. It is however in the middle of nowhere, at least 3 miles from the nearest train station. Had a bit of a nightmare getting back as nowhere seems to be particularly well signposted.
There were no seats so I could not comment on comfort. The view wasn't great and the terrace wasn't really steep enough to get a good view from behind anyone else. Also, being near the corner is never ideal.
Whilst I did not use the facilities, they were essentially a giant portacabin. My brother did use them and wasn't overly favourable.
The food in the ground was very tasty (balti pie) and reasonable. However we could not find anywhere inside or anywhere near the ground where away fans would be served alcohol which was a disappointment.
Everyone treated us very well and not too heavy handedly. We had one fan run onto the pitch when we scored at one point and rather than cause a huge fuss by barging into a rather packed terrace they simply surrounded him and his group of mates and waited till the end of the match so no one else got involved. Very well handled.
The ground is far too open to maintain any kind of atmosphere from either side.
