irongav's review of St James' Park

This ground is a long way away for the london based clubs, so well worth staying over for, great place to go, very cheap tickets for the prem, proper football fans and the ground itself is great, as I have read on here from others the skyline of newcastle from the ground is well worth a look. Several hundred miles, several hundred pounds and 3 points......what a great way to spend a weekend..... This is a ground you just have to tick off your list of grounds you have been to.

Location

The stadium is awesome.....you drive into the town centre and BAM there it is, really liked that. we parked in the queen victoria multi storey next to the queen vic hospital. a stroll to the ground or the town centre, we spent most of the day in the town, one thing I would say is, go back into the town for a coffee or meal before you head home and let the traffic die down a bit!

View

when you have climbed the 14 flights of stairs to get to the concourse!! you then scale the mountain to get to your seat, where as one of my mates suggested the pitch and players look like a game of subbuteo! Your first reaction is that it's not great, but to be honest once the fans start singing and the game starts, i found the view to be good and really enjoyed it, seats had more leg room than most, not that we sat.

Food & Drink

same as most

Police & Stewards

no bother at all, very friendly

Atmosphere

Atmosphere....not as loud as I have heard it should be!! but then we were noisy so to be fair I may just not have heard? no problems with any fans that I saw. Newcastle fans are very passionate about their club, good set of proper football fans and therefore deserve respect and give back respect where due.
