hampshirehopper has rated Stoneham Sports Complex 1.0 out of 5.
Part of a complex with other football pitches run by Hampshire FA. Lack of cover for when it rains. No terracing.
They did until April 2024 make everyone and anyone who comes to the ground use a QR code to get in. Using the pathetic excuse of "safeguarding"!! Thankfully they have listened to feedback about this Orwellian nonsense and scrapped it. If it does return at some point in the future and they bring back the QR codes, just use false details.
They do have some cool purple turnstiles to get through. Entry is by cash or card (April 2024).
Easy enough to find by car. Free parking in car park opposite the complex. 15 minute walk from nearest railway station at Swaythling (Southampton). The car park has a 3 hour limit and has those Orwellian ANPR cameras. No idea why as the complex is not near a town centre or train station.
Lack of seating. Lack of covering.
Could do with more toilets.
Didn't use as I smuggled in a can of coke and a choccy bar :-)
Was a friendly lady saying hello entering the ground.
AFC Stoneham have been getting the lowest crowds in the Wessex League because of the requirement for QR codes, which kept people away. Thankfully they have now done away with this QR code nonsense. Plus crowds aren't going to be great when you have 2 football clubs in Eastleigh - Eastleigh FC of the National League are along the same road!
