Nuneaton Griff have been on my wishlist for quite some time due to my name being Griff, so I was very excite to visit after a Wednesday night trip to Armthorpe Welfare didn't quite pan out. Sadly, it wasn't the best non-league experience I've had, Griff playing at a municipal athletic's stadium. The visit of local rivals Hinckley boosted the attendance though and the game was entertaining.
Plenty of parking at The Pingles leisure centre and a pleasant walk through the park from the town centre and railway station.
Athletic's stadium, so a running track ruins it. The seats in the stand were quite comfortable.
Toilets were fine, there are some secret toilets round the back of the stand which nobody else seemed to know about. Actually, thinking about it maybe they were for the referee and I did a Robbie Savage.
Just a bloke with a barbecue grilling flat supermarket burgers. He had cheesy baps though, which was a nice touch. The lady selling tea and coffees was nice and there were FREE BISCUITS. There's also a vending machine selling crisps and chocolates.
All the noise came from the many travelling Hinckley fans. One guy shouted "Come on Griff, get your act together", but he may have been talking to me.
