"AFC Wimbledon 1-3 Northampton Town"

Compact ground in suburbia with an excellent bar and decent atmosphere. Feels more like a really good non-league ground than a League 1 ground and I'm sure Dons fans are looking forward to moving back to their spiritual home in Plough Lane in the next few years.

Location

It's a ten / fifteen minute walk from Norbiton station, but be warned there is nothing around the ground. If you're having a few pints beforehand I would head into to Kingston or New Malden and get bus 131 which stops right outside the ground.

It's a small ground and usually pretty full, so for the best views get in early for a place at the front or be 6 ft 2 like I am.

Facilities

Not great and if you're in the Rygas stand the bogs are miles away. My legendarily poor bladder meant I undertook the long journey across the front of the Chemflow End on a few occasions.

Food & Drink

The bar is great and serves 2 real ales. On was the Wimbledon brewery's Plough Lane and was delicious. I got there early to watch Spurs v Arsenal on the big screen and there was a good mix of home and away fans. Nowhere to sit, mind.

At half time there was a burger van. No queues, but only Pukka pies which had run out by half time. Burger was standard. The worst thing though, no pepper for the Bovril! This is a crime and should be punishable by a fine and points docked.

Atmosphere

Dons fans were quite vocal, helped by the fact it is such a small and cosy ground.
