"Liverpool - little disapointed"

Anfield was a ground I was looking forward to visiting but I think my view really spoilt the day. The Kop looked fantastic the rest of the crowd didn't really get going. Area around the ground is good, plenty of stalls selling badges scarves etc. Match day programme was good. It's not a ground I think I'd like to visit each season but I am glad I have been to sample the atmosphere first hand. Overall 6/10.

Location

Good location went by coach & coaches park just round the corner from the ground alongside Stanley Park.

Very disappointing, was towards the back of the stand, even whilst seated could not see the Kop due to the over hang from the upper tier, was crouching over every time play was towards the final third - very disappointing. Not experienced this before at away grounds even though I imagine it to be quite common. I felt a little let down was looking forward to visiting one of the legendary venues in world football but felt like I was watching game through a letterbox.

Police & Stewards

I felt the local police were very heavy handed. Anfield is the only time I've seen the police with wooden batons and I saw them used on the back of people's legs to hurry them along, this level of force was not required. We drank in a pub close to the away entrance called The Arkles. The staff were friendly and welcoming for away fans, some home fans also used this pub & the atmosphere was good.

Atmosphere

Atmosphere was not as good as I expected, little disappointed after seeing the European nights on TV against top European clubs, a Saturday afternoon Premiership fixtures failed to raise the crowd. The Kop did look amazing with the scarves and flags - a real credit to the club.
