Visited Ynys Park for the pre-season Supporters Direct Cup match between Ton Pentre and Newport County. It's a small compact ground with character. Consists of a small seated stand on the half way line, a large covered Terrace behind the one goal and a small walkway along the other side of the pitch behind the players dugouts. The final side is a grass verge which backs onto the main road.
Seconds off the A4058 with street parking available. When questioned it was recommended not to park in the club's very small car park and use the streets around the ground. Picturesque views of the surrounding hills of the South Wales Valleys which rise high around each side of the ground.
The small covered \"Grandstand\" seats which covers just over the half way line along the north of the ground has an unrestricted view as the dugouts are set along the Southern side, which is really just a walkway. The Eastern goal is a grass banking behind a wall which backs onto the A4058 while the Western part of the Ground holds a nice big covered terrace and the food outlet.
Clean
A nice little corner food and drink outlet build into the corner of the covered terrace. Cost just over £3 for a cheeseburger and a coffee. Both tasted good
Didn\'t notice any police but found the Stewards to be friendly and helpful.
The covered terrace helps create a nice atmosphere by focusing the noise onto the pitchand the local support do like to get behind their team.
