"Terrible organisation for away fans"

Visited for the Ukraine vs England World Cup qualifier.

The ground is not too far out of the city centre, although not signposted at all. Many of the streets round the stadium are unlit. Even worse, not many bars, so all the available ones were full, generally entirely England fans.

The stadium is easy to find for a night game due to the lights. However on arrival it is totally unclear which outer entrance should be used, as the tickets only inficate entrances once you are inside the stadium. Many England fans were trying every outer entrance until they were allowed in. One entrance, the most downhill one, had thousands of people outside. A little bit intimidating, and certainly no sgn of security, stewards or police.

Once inside the outer walls, things are a little better. However segregation seemed non-existent. Even the toilets (which were enormous - not many toilets, but a massive room) appeared to be shared by both sets of fans.

Views from the stands were fine, with no restricted views, but you would hope that from a new stadium. Most of the seats seemed to have bird excrement on them which was a little odd.

The home fans were quite noisy. However many flares were being let off, most of which were being thrown at the England goalkeeper. Something for FIFA to note (especially as he gave away a penalty not long afterwards).

Not a bad stadium but not a great one either.

About 20 to 30 minutes brisk walk from the city centre. Minimal pubs or food outlets near the ground.

A bit dirty & messy. Didn't seem to be cleaned or cleared.

Facilities

Adequate toilets, but no segregation in them.

Police & Stewards

No sign of any stewards or police. They eventiually appeared once the flares were thrown on the pitch by home fans.

Atmosphere

Excellent atmosphere. Very intimidating.

The half-time dancing girls were superb. After the game they returned to entertain the locked-in England fans for 20 minutes. A highlight of the evening.
