A surprising place, in that it gives the best accommodation to the visitors! The rest is all rather sub-standard for today's football league.
As a visitor don't bother to look for a pub, there is a bar inside the ground.
Off a main road at the end of a cul-de-sac with industrial/trading estate to the north and residential streets to the south and west. Without a satnav I may never have found it!
It took us five and a half hours to get here, thanks to the closure of the M4 that morning. From Reading Services to Victoria Road took us two hours via the northern M25.
Brand new stand over the dressing rooms is given over to the visitors. the rest of the ground all higgledy-piggledy and looking non-league quality but probably much loved by the fans!
Make sure you take your seat 5 mins before kick-off or you will have to wait until the players tunnel is put back! Similarly the tunnel holds you in until everyone is back in the dressing rooms. As we won this was no big deal!
I can only comment on the visitor's end and these are rather good.
Not a vast choice of food but the food served piping hot and all freshly prepared. Burgers, hot dogs, chips, pies etc and even sandwiches if you get there before they run out. This outlet is at the rear of the stand in the open. It is reached through a reasonably priced bar with minimal seating but showing Sky Sports. Home fans said this was the only bar inside the ground but I cannot verify that for obvious reasons.
The Stewards seemed quite fair and rather tolerant, given a few of our fans had obviously imbibed a little too much from the bar. The police were not needed, but we are tarnished with the reputation of our near-neighbours.
One sided noise from ourselves. But we were always on top. Things may have been different had there been a goal from the Daggers
