Unfortunately Roots Hall is showing its age. Built by the supporters of the club, the ground once had a 30,000 standing kop on the site of the current south stand. Turning into an all-seater stadium has cut the capacity to just over 11,000. Roots Hall just isn't good enough compared with today's new stadium and will be replaced hopefully within the next few years. The faults are all over the place as follows:
South stand upper, often difficult to see the goal line, but other than that pretty good.
South stand lower, the front couple of rows are below pitch level, some restricted views
East stand, early season and late season bring a cap and shades as you are often staring into the sun setting behind the west.
West stand, lots of pillars
Northbank, pretty good bar the seats at the back
Not far from 3 rail stations. Off street parking
Some restricted views, but pretty good for away supporters
Reasonable toilets and bars for the home supporters.
At the time of writing the food is ok, but the caterers are changing.
Poor, stewards are generally too old, or too young and struggle with big crowds.
Could be better Can be quiet, with pockets of moaners in the crowd.
