Now, I love my team, I always have and I always will. In the emirates, they have a large, beautiful stadium, probably the best stadium in the country, built well, spitting distance from Highbury and numerous stations conveniently nearby. However, I find that when supporters of other clubs tell me that our atmosphere is disappointing, I'm afraid to say that it is getting harder and harder to defend my beloved club from this when I'm looking around and seeing people who, put simply, look like they cannot be bothered to sing. I've had good times and good days out at this place, but they could be better.
Very very easy to reach, very conveniently placed. Finsbury Park, Arsenal, Highbury/Islington and Holloway Road stations all within fairly easy distance, I may have missed one or two stations that's how conveniently placed the Emirates is. Can't fault em there, very easy to reach.
As an arsenal fan, I have visited this ground numerous times and of the actual game, I have an excellent view. Sometimes unfortunately, I have had the odd problem seeing the big screen depending on where I'm sitting.
The seats are the most comfortable I've ever sat in at a football match, padded with very generous legroom.
There are LOADS of toilets in this ground and they're quite clean. Cannot fault them there
Arsenal have an excellent range of food to choose from. However the prices are absolutely awful compared to other grounds I've visited.
I've found the stewards at arsenal to be quite talkative and friendly most of the time. One of my visits, I watched a bit of an incident where, upon asking a very aggressive and drunk supporter to leave because he was not allowed to drink alcohol pitchside, the fan got quite angry and lairy, and the steward dealt with it very calmly and professionally.
Now unfortunately, we get to the not-as-good part of my review. Before our move to the Emirates, we were widely known as the Highbury Library. Whilst we certainly are not a library any more, atmospheres at Arsenal are very hit-n-miss. I've seen them loud, I've seen them quiet. I've seen them laugh,Ii've seen them cry, and I've seen them angry. I think it seems to depend on the fixture or on if they sell out. Against Liverpool, West Ham, Manchester City and Everton, four games I visited that sold out, we were very loud, particularly Liverpool, where we were a boiling cauldron of noise, chanting and singing, and, due to some poor refereeing on Howard Webb's part, loudly booing every touch that Liverpool made, bordering on intimidating. At other games, such as Burnley in the cup and Bolton, we are rather quiet. In fact, in the Burnley game, their fans sang, "3-0 and you still don't sing" and in fact, on the way out of the ground I could hear numerous burnley fans, very disappointed at the lack of atmosphere that they expected to find in a 60,000 seater stadium. Considering our travelling support away from home is always VERY loud, I would love nothing more than to see that level of support at our 60,000 seater stadium. But for now, it's not there. If you're a Gooner reading this, GO AND SING!!!!!
