It was for me a great day out, Old Trafford. The stadium itself is definitely a must-see, quite nice, though for me I thought at times the large west, north and east stands and shorter south stand gave it the image of an unfinished lego model. Maybe as an arsenal fan I'm too used to the smooth symmetrical appearance of the Emirates. Still a nice sight though from where I was sitting, very nice view, stewards were great, food was limited, and friendly but quiet support. It's a good day out. All that was missing was a bit of atmosphere... and an Arsenal goal :(
I got away club travel with Arsenal, so as far as convenience is concerned I'm not in any position to comment on this. I know they have a train station next to the ground so that can only be a plus.
For such a famous ground, there wasn't as much legroom as I'd have liked. In fact, I found more legroom at Brisbane Road (Leyton Orient) than here.
However, the view was excellent despite being put 34 rows back, I had a superb view of all the action, including the unfortunate celebrations of their title win :S.
Maximum marks for view, but they need better legroom.
Can't fault em for toilets, they were clean and there were plenty of them.
NO HOT DOGS. That for me should be a hanging offence. They actually don't sell hot dogs here.
I didn't eat anything, mind you, so i cant be too critical of whatever food they DO sell. But next time I'm there, I want a damn hot dog! :P
Maybe they sell them to only home fans :S lol! Nah I'm joking.
Stewards were extremely friendly as were the police and the staff, very easy to talk to. For such a big ground you would need good stewards, as the problem with big grounds is that there's more people to watch over, as is the case with the emirates, but they did this very well.
Now I went as a travelling Arsenal supporter to see United vs Arsenal. It was their last home game of the season, a point in which would have (and did) clinch them the title, against a team with literally nothing to play for. So why did we still outsing them? Our fans sang all the way through. There were a minority of united fans who tried their best, on either side of the away stand, and there were these brief moments when they were loud. But in such a big stadium, you expect better. The full time whistle saw all of them roar and cheer together and it was VERY LOUD, one of the loudest cheers I've ever heard, which shows that if they wanted to, they could make a lot of noise. For whatever reason, they didn't feel like it. At least some of them tried, really hard.
I found most of the supporters to be very friendly and good humoured, which is a good sign considering that the two teams are such fierce rivals on the pitch. All they need is a bit more atmosphere and they'll be fine.
