When I was offered (at the last minute) tickets for a game at Old Trafford I thought I had to go along to see the place and experience being in the 'Theatre of Dreams', as it might be my only opportunity to. I was in the away end.
I have to say that the stadium itself is enormous and so steeply banked. My overriding memory, however, is of the lack of atmosphere. This was just a run-of-the-mill Premier League game, but the home fans hardly made any noise at all. Fortunately, the away fans did but every so often they would go "ssssssssh" and the silence was palpable. Its a shame, but I'm sure with a more important game the atmosphere would have been better.
The ground isn't too bad to find, and there are plenty of official car parks nearby. I parked at Old Trafford Cricket Ground, which cost £6 and was less than 10 minutes walk from the ground.
The view from the away end isn't too bad, the legroom is pretty average really and its no more or less comfortable than any other top football ground really.
No complaints about the facilities at all - clean and modern.
I didn't have anything to eat or drink, so can't comment, although the range looked disappointing.
Hardly noticed them so must have been good!
For 75,000 fans, it was remarkably quiet! This was the biggest disappointment of my visit.
