Being a student at Loughborough I was eagerly anticipating my trip to the Walkers. I'd heard promising things from Southend fans who traveled up earlier in the season so my expectations were high. By far the best new ground in the league by a country mile.
An easyish 10-15min walk was all it took from Leicester train station. As I got the train I'm unsure how good the ground location was for cars/buses etc. Yet I did walk past a relatively big car park on my way to the stadium and there was space to park directly outside the ground.
The away end is located in one of the corners of the ground which provides a unique perspective for watching a football match. Great view and no restrictions.
By far the strangest bit about the Walkers - the ground from the outside looks amazing and the view from the stands is equally as good yet the interior was extremely lacking. The toilets were made out of spare panels of wood and the bar area filled up in a matter of minutes. Perhaps the club were worried about the toilets being prone to an attack?
Average football food and drink at average prices.
The stewarding was fine. The police were slightly intimidating seeing as they decided to follow supporters into the bar area at half time and hawked down on everybody from the descending stairs.
Could have been much better from a team 13 points clear at the top of the table. There only seemed to be one set of fans (the ones to the immediate left of the away fans) that seemed to make any noise.
