"Another Meccano Stadia"

Characterless 'Meccano' like bowl stadia like so many others.

Scandulous refreshment prices. £5 for a Hot-Dog. You're having a laugh!

Mind you I certainly wasn't having a laugh at the standard of footbal from my team Sheff Wed. The worst and I mean that I have ever seen them and I've seen lots of dire matches over the years!

As for Reading, the pubs were full of rugby fans and the one member of bar staff in the O'Neill's pub seemed ignorant. Beer very expensie.

Stewards at the ground quite good as was the First bus driver which made a refreshing change.

If visiting Reading by rail you may have to use First Great Western and its awful Paddington Station hub in London. Paddington has had no investment since the British Rail days it seems and would make a great 1970s filming location.

Location

Out of town and ample car parking around the ground. It seems to be in the middle of an industrial estate.
If using public transport it is a bus ride from the town centre. Yes, using First. However the driver on our bus seemed friendly enough.

Nothing different from many of the many 90s/00s Meccano stadia out there. Soulless atmosphere.

Facilities

Toilets seemed clean.

Food & Drink

Very expensive for a simple pie or hot dog.

Police & Stewards

Stewards seemed very co-operative. Had no contact with the Berkshire Constabulary!

Atmosphere

Absolutely soulless ground. No noise generated by the home fans despite their team mullering us! Awful darts-like goal celebration music.
