The Memorial Ground is one of those old fashion grounds you don't mind visiting as long as the weather's nice, as most of it is open to the elements. Unfortunately it's mainly rubbish. The stand directly across from the away stand (standing) is a funny stand and looks more like a cricket pavilion than a football stand.
And for some reason the genius who built the ground decided to put the dug out at the opposite side of the stadium to where the players come out. This means both managers and whoever else needs to be on the bench has to trek over the pitch to reach them.
My advice is to sit undercover or take an umbrella if you have the slightest thought its going to rain, because it usually does.
The Memorial Ground is in the middle of a load of houses and it makes it hard for coaches to work there way to the ground. The entrance to the car park is literally next door to some new build properties and it makes for a tight squeeze for coaches.
When you do get into the car park there is ample space to park and away fans are put right outside the away exit/entrance. The only problem with this is that its the furthest point away from the car park exit and takes a little time to get on your way.
There is only one way out of the car park to leading to the narrow streets of Bristol and its always busy up until the motorway. It usually takes around 30/45 mins from leaving the car park to joining the motorway because of this.
The standing away fans are shoved in the far corner of the ground in a standing area right next to the main home stand. There arn't any real obstructions in the way of posts but if you have anyone over 6ft standing by the side of you,it could make it hard to the goal that the home fans stand behind.
My advice is to get as close to the front as possible and as far right in the stand as possible. Or even better pay a little extra and go sit in the small 'tent' covered section behind the goal.
The facilities inside the ground are pretty basic. They have a place to buy food/drinks at the back of the stand but its not under cover.
There is a supporters bar joined on to the stadium. Away fans are welcome and the prices aren't to bad. They serve food and drink so it's perfect if you arrive early and the gates aren't open yet. Inside the ground the food is pretty cheap and it has a non alcoholic drinks bar separate.
For some reason they don't do hotdogs tho!!
The police and stewards don't do much so you don't notice them (which is good). They can't tell you to sit down because its not an all seater stadium so there job is pretty easy.
The home fans make a little bit of noise in the stand behind the far goal but its nothing special. The fans in the stand behind the dug outs tend to like having a pop at the away manager (well they do with ours anyway) but it's nothing major.
Its hard for away fans to make any sort of atmosphere as the stands are so open. Any noise made just drifts away in the wind.
