Newcastle was buzzing with atmosphere. Everyone enjoyed socialising before the match. Indeed the atmosphere of the city was similar to that of Cardiff on international day (but not quite up to the mark!!). 2,700 Swansea fans were full of anticipation as we were on a positive run. Unfortunately the occasion proved overwhelming for our inexperienced team and we succumbed to a 3-0 defeat.
Right in the centre of the city could walk to the ground.
Stands were so high I felt like a seagull. Looking down at the pitch was like watching Subbuteo.
Queues were too long for the toilet at half time. They were very clean.
Did not eat but the aroma was not appetising. Lager was fine, nothing special compared to the home brew we had in a nearby pub before the game.
Friendliest police and stewards I have ever come across. They could teach the London police a thing or two about people management.
Many empty seats in the home end which affected the atmosphere. Swansea fans sang their hearts out despite a sickening feeling of inevitability from the early stages onwards.
"And we were singing
Hymns and arias
Land of my Fathers
Ar hyd y nos"
