"decent ground"

I've been here a couple times (2018 + 2019) for the annual two legged Guangdong - Hong Kong cup. It's a decent small ground, perhaps too small for CSL games (though Guangzhou R&F have played a few games here before) but fine for the Guangdong - HK games.

Due to the political situation and Covid the ties haven't been played since and it's unclear when they'll resume but it's a decent game to attend.

Location

Located in centre of Guangzhou and right next to a metro station

View

A decent view considering the running track and also all covered so you're ok if it rains.

Food & Drink

No better/worse than most Chinese stadiums, a few places to eat/drink outside and also some places (including a subway) in the shopping mall of the metro station

Police & Stewards

Despite it being a Chinese vs HK fixture the policing was quite relaxed (I managed to sneak into the away end at the first game) but there wasn't any trouble. Chinese police at football games tend to be quite passive and stand back a lot unless it gets violent (which it almost never does)

Atmosphere

Tickets were given free I think and it seemed a quite friendly family atmosphere at the game. The visiting Hong Kongers gave good support though.

It's quite a small ground for CSL standards so were R&F (sorry... City) to play there again I think it would be a decent atmosphere, certainly better than at a 50,000 ground.
