There was two things about the town of Eibar I didn't realise until I went there - it's bigger than I thought (the population is around 30,000 and known as one of the smallest to host La Liga football) and it's hillier than I thought. You're unlikely to stay in the town but it is worth an hour or two to explore beforehand, the ground is around ten minutes from the town centre though and a little hilly.
It's been redeveloped in recent years to increase the capacity for La Liga so feels a newish stadium. but still tight in its surroundings. I don't think they often sell out (just over half full when I went) so easy to get tickets (around €20-30 for second tier). But despite the small crowds for that level it was still a good atmosphere.
I love that the town/ground has hosted top level football and now are still up near the top of the 2nd tier trying to get back to the top flight. Well worth a visit.
Eibar is easyish to get to from Bilbao or San Sebastian, the last euskotren train is late enough to get back to either city and is very cheap even if a little slow (took a bit over an hour to get to Bilbao). In Eibar itself the ground isn't far from the town centre/train station
A compact ground so wherever you are won't be far from the pitch. The stands are about ten feet higher than the pitch though.
Despite a modest 4,500 crowd the atmosphere was quite buzzing at the end. A decent amount of singing throughout the game and the usual whistling you get in Spanish football whenever the fans think a decision has gone against them
