A visit to Sunderland last year was an unusual experience for me, as I attended the game against Spurs as a neutral.
The stadium is in an exposed position close to the river. The environs display features of the area's mining heritage and a larger-than-life statue of Bob Stokoe: a good likeness but he wasn't really my cup of tea as he and Don Revie had a bit of history.
Club shop was poor with, perhaps understandably, an abundance of 1973 Cup Final win memorabilia - again, not to my taste.
Overall, a large ground of the modern, identikit variety.
Drove to the ground, parking fairly close without difficulty in a side street. Not sure about public transport links but weren't obviously good. Getting away from the ground took too long
Excellent - no problems from high up opposite the main stand
Sunderland used to have the Roker Roar. This seems to have died with the move to their new home. Once Spurs went 2-1 up many of the fans seemed to resign themselves to defeat, muttered half-heartedly about a poor performance, and sloped off home 15 minutes before time - pathetic.
Steve Bruce provided more entertainment than the team with his touchline antics.
