"Millennium Misery"

What should have been a fantsatic day out (for the 2006 Championship Play-Off Final) turned out to be a disaster. An awful journey by train got us in to Cardiff only 45 minutes before kick off, so very little time to soak up the atmosphere.

Leeds failed to turn up for the game and were totally outplayed. Our train was the last out of Cardiff and was full of very drunk fans. We wended our way home via what seemed like every station on the rail network, arriving home in Leeds at 1.30 a.m.

The stadium itself is very impressive but has one serious drawback - the roof. It was closed for my visit, and already being wet, the heat generated turned it into the world's biggest sauna. Although the Leeds & Watford fans generated a lot of noise, that's all it was - as it reverberated around the stadium it was impossible to work out what each set of fans was shouting. Football grounds should never have roofs.

Location

Close to the station - great for travelling by train...but I wouldn't advise it from Leeds.
