dontcallmeroger has rated Brunton Park 4.0 out of 5.
Modern football grounds might be relatively comfortable, but they tend to be bland, out-of-town affairs. Not so Brunton Park. Within walking distance of the town centre, where there are several decent pubs, this is a ground with bags of character - the distinctive 'triple roof' construction of the Warwick Road End, the main stand with its paddock to the front, and the crumbling terracing at the 'Waterworks End'. The more modern East Stand, where I was sitting (amongst the natives, thanks to a friend taking me along to the game), completes the layout.
Despite some animosity between Leeds & Carlisle (origin: unknown), I found the Cumbrians quite tolerant, even when I was the only person in my section celebrating Jermaine Beckford's opening goal...perhaps they knew that in the second half they were going to turn us over.
Walking distance from the railway station and town centre
Excellent from the East Stand - it's a cantilever
No problems as such with the local constabulary...although on arriving by train I did find it a little OTT that all away fans were videoed
For a small ground, excellent atmosphere - perhaps it was the opposition that provided the motivation for the home fans
