"Lazio"

Huge, impressive stadium. But only half full meant the atmosphere lacked a bit.

Inside the ground looked impressive, outside less so.

Most certainly worth a visit to see one on the giants of serie A. The singing and eagle pre-match were excellent and all the flags of past and present Lazio heroes was great to see.

Location

From where I stayed in Rome it was a metro ride, a bus trip and a walk to the stadium.

Seats were reasonable in terms of comfort - plenty of leg room and enough clearance over the row in front to give everyone a clear view. The pitch seemed a long way away though

Facilities

Facilities were ok. Toilets ok, food outlets looked clean and served decent grub. Club shop (inside the stadium) was a little primitive but ok.

Food & Drink

Hot drinks, pizza, hot dogs all seemed fine

Police & Stewards

Carabinere, (military police) checked tickets and ID at the outside perimeter gate with all their usual charm. Further checks to get through the turnstiles seemed a bit over the top but I suppose they've probably seen a bit of bother in their time

Atmosphere

Very mixed really. A massive stadium but only half full meant the place wasn't jumping.

But being on the edge of the curve that houses the Lazio tifosi, the club song sung by the supporters made the hairs stand up on your arms, neck and everywhere else. The flight of the Lazio eagle around the the stadium was a fantastic spectacle.

The relatively sparse crowd, tiny away support (of Siena) and the pouring rain dampened the atmosphere a bit but it was still a memorable occasion.
