"One of Fife's football outposts"

davidapattison-67's review of The Canniepairt

Closer to Dundee than any of the Fife towns, Tayport's ground is at the end of a long journey for most away supporters. Nevertheless depending on the weather (it is exposed to the North Sea and Firth of Tay) attending a match here can be an enjoyable experience as the local fans are friendly, and the facilities are as good as most junior stadia in the area,

Location

Located at the eastern end of Tayport the ground can be reached by a ten minute walk from the town centre, but best to ask directions. Tayport has regular bus services to Dundee, which is also the nearest mainline rail station. There is ample car parking adjacent to the ground and in the surrounding streets.

View

There is no spectator seating, but a covered enclosure over a shallow stepped terracing runs along much of the touchline on one side of the ground. The remainder of the spectator area is grass covered slopes. Other than for the enclosure support pillars there is a uninterrupted view of the playing area.

Facilities

The clubhouse (which looks more like a two story house!) stands well apart from one end of the pitch and contains the toilet facilities which are adequate and clean.

An unusual feature is a white board with the day's home and away team lines written on it. This board is affixed to one of the collection of buildings adjacent to the turnstiles.

Food & Drink

The clubhouse has an external server counter where the usual range of hot and cold snacks and drinks are available. Reasonable prices and no queues.

There is also a separate, Nissan hut style, members lounge adjacent to the covered enclosure but whether this is open to visiting supporters is not clear.

Police & Stewards

None present

Atmosphere

The wide open nature of the ground makes it difficult to generate an atmosphere in the ground other than when a decent sized crowd congregate in the covered enclosure.

The ground is also close to the Firth of Tay and the atmosphere can be depressed when there are cold winds blowing in off the North Sea.
