Green Point is an imposing stadium perched on an outcrop near the vibrant waterfront of Cape Town. Built for the 2010 world cup it was threatened with demolition but is now safe with regular events.
Cape Town City only date from 2016 replacing a defunct club from 1960 defunct in 1977. Orlando are however South African football royalty, founded in Soweto in1937 they have an impressive trophy cabinet and have a large fan base, as evidenced tonight.

Outside the stadium is incredible with leaning sides falling outwards.
Inside its a familiar layout in the area we were in the fans were not segregated. For this game the upper tier was not used and the fans were about 2/3rds Orlando.
The atmosphere was great and Orlando were by far the better side but they missed a penalty and Cape Town got a breakaway goal winning against the odds.
Highly recommended visit, despite the crime threat in South Africa I never felt under threatened and the atmosphere was very friendly

Location

Getting to the stadium is relatively easy but the car based transport system of Cape Town does result in very slow traffic. There is a reserved bus route serving the stadium with a tram style platform. There are road closures, and its best to leave a lot of time to get there.
We were not advised to use the buses but apparently the Citi buses which are mainly Optare Midi buses are alright for tourists. UBERS are plentiful and cheap and that's how we got there and back. Be prepared for traffic though

Spacious terracing and no pillars we were sitting on unattached bar type stools on the bar platform

Food & Drink

There is a club shop and a bar. and you can drink watching the game. The bar/Food was very slow, despite a lot of staff, (Everywhere in South Africa is like this) so its best to get a few rounds in at once.
