brianscott has rated The Zeeco Stadium 3.0 out of 5.
I travelled by train, and had selected Stamford v Worksop as I wanted to have a look around the very attractive town. As it happened it was a good choice as a huge number of non-league matches were called off.
Arriving at the railway station at 11.06, it gave me the opportunity to look round, on what turned out to be a brilliant sunny afternoon. It was a very long walk out to the ground which is right on the outskirts in the country. I looked at a bus stop to consider public transport after the match, however the bus just after 17.00 doesn't run on a Saturday - so no use there.
The facilities at this ground are very good for the level the club currently play at, but it was very difficult to get out of the bitter westerly wind. It would have been possible to watch the match through the glass from inside the extensive bar area.
The match was entertaining with Stamford beating Worksop 2-1 with a late penalty.
It would be first rate for those travelling by car. Not so good for public transport however.
Both the seated stand and the covered terrace have good views of the pitch.
Excellent, with a choice of the upstairs bar and the food downstairs. It would have been superb to sit outside on a warmer afternoon!
No police and friendly stewards. A special mention to the ticket lady who let me in at the early time of 13.15! (I like to have a good look round before kick off and relax.)
There was support from the away team, as well as the home team's fans. The drum attached to a crash barrier in the covered terrace is a good idea!
