blueman1887 has rated Lissywollen 4.0 out of 5.
Lissywollen or Athlone Town Stadium as it is called is a new ground which replaced the old dilapadated St. Mel's Park. At present the ground consists of a main stand which holds approx 2,500 and 3 open sides.
The stand offers a great view of the pitch and the seats have plenty of leg room etc.
The locala can be a bit quite and the athmosphere is usually a bit quite unless the away side has some voal support.
All in all it is a fine ground to watch football in.
The Ground is situated right next to the M6 Motorway. There is ample parking outside the ground and at the nearby sports centre. It is approx 20 minute walk from the bus and train station. There should be ample taxis avilable at the station which should cost no more than 5 Euro. The nearest pubs are the Green Olive about 5 mins and The Bounty which is about 10 mins. The Ground is approx 20 mins from the town centre wherer there are plenty of pubs.
The Ground has only recently been completed (last 5 years) with a main stand and 3 open sides. The stand is ecxellent with good seating and leg room with an excellent view of the pitch. with no obstruction.
The toilets are clean and are well kept.
There is a very low police profile only attending if large crowd expected, the stewards are friendly and helpful.
Atmosphere generally is a bit quite, although in recent times the locals haven' t had a lot to get excited about
