bigaitch has rated York Street (The Jakemans Stadium) 4.0 out of 5.
York Street had been on my radar for years but it has always eluded me until my mate and I ventured up in December 2018 as the ground was nearing the end of its life. It is simply a cracking old school ground with terracing, seating and covering all in plentiful supply. It’s town centre location and traditional floodlights make it a must do ground and it will be a sad loss once the wrecking ball does its worst.
Town centre, loads of parking nearby and not to distant from the station.
Excellent view from the Spayne Road terrace which is covered and is steeply raked.
Toilets not in great supply, especially as Boston attract decent crowds but they were clean enough compared to some.
Usual fare on offer, but reasonably priced. My burger was excellent.
One single Police Officer on duty, but he was there it seemed as a token presence. He seemed pretty relaxed and approachable and the stewards were very friendly.
Decent atmosphere but Boston’s fans are pretty myopic. I know that is not unique to them, but some of the comments were a bit embarrassing when decisions did not go their way. However, plenty of noise and singing.
