bigaitch has rated Johan Cruyff Arena (Amsterdam Arena) 4.0 out of 5.
Saw Ajax v PSV in 2006 and although the game was goalless, the occasion and atmosphere more than made up for a poor game. It does help I guess that two fierce rivals were up against each other and that the roof was closed, so the noise created by 52,000 people was intensified. However, this just really made it for my group and I, the stadium is almost faultless.
A 15 minute journey from the City centre by underground, the stadium is served by two stops, both of which are 2-3 minutes away and are built to cope with the demand of a full house. In addition, there is ample parking nearby.
Seats are more than comfortable, and the view is superb. Even from our seats, lower tier, third row up and near the corner flag, the view was helped by the fact the entire seating area is raised about 2 metres above pitch level.
Many toilet facilities which were large and clean.
Very good choice and reasonably priced. We had corporate tickets which included free beer and food (Snacks / kebab sticks) for an hour prior to the game, half time and an hour afterwards. Still needed a coffee during game to soak up some of the pre match beer!
Potentially volatile match handled very well by huge police and steward presence.
As stated above, all the ingredients for top atmosphere were present and we were not let down.
