bigaitch has rated Green Pond Road 5.0 out of 5.
Green Pond Road was a sad loss to the world of football grounds. This was a proper ground with decent terracing, seating and cover with a decent view afforded of the action. On the 2 occasions I went, the attendances never reached more than 250 or so, but it was not difficult to imagine the crowds of days gone by that gathered when Avenue were at their best.
A large raised grandstand down one side above the changing rooms seated about 800 with covered terracing in front. Behind one goal and along the far side was covered terracing with uncovered terracing at the other end.
Houses now sit on the site with no trace or acknowledgement of what was a famous old club.
About 25 minute walk from Blackhorse Road tube station although plenty of busses went nearby.
Excellent view of the pitch from the main stand and terracing.
Really good clubhouse and decent food too from what I recall.
See above.
There were none.
Good atmosphere in a large ground , even with small crowds.
