"Really poor view - little to enthuse over"

Although it is good to see senior football back at Woodford, the ground really is a fairly dismal experience. The main reason is the fact the spectator accommodation has not only an 8 lane running track, but also the track that approaches the long jump pit separating it from the pitch. As a result you are almost in a separate post code from the action. The only creature comforts is a demountable stand with about 450 seats but the area is so flat that the views from it are not great, and for good measure floodlight pylons also hamper the view from many of the seats. There is a grass bank at one end but that is even further away from the action although it does provide a raised view.
On the positive side there is ample car parking and a decent looking clubhouse but really very little else at this stage to enthuse over.

Location

About half hour walk from Woodford tube on the central line, a walk that takes you past the skeleton of the old Snakes Lane ground.
Plenty of busses run past the ground and for those with a car there is a decent sized car park as stated.

Low down, ridiculous distance from the action. Not great.

Facilities

Toilets outside the clubhouse.

Food & Drink

Clubhouse seems reasonable enough and there is a mobile catering unit inside the ground for the staple fare of burgers, coffees, soft drinks etc.

Police & Stewards

No police but the stewards in the car park and ground were friendly enough.

Atmosphere

Such an exposed arena is going to struggle to generate an atmosphere. Woodford have a hardcore group of followers who sign throughout the 90 minutes but to be honest they are in such small number their efforts seemed to evaporate into the sky.
