My recent visit to Selhurst Park was 16th December 2019, where Brighton took the lead but conceded an equaliser 10 minutes from time resulting in a ‘M23 Derby’ draw.
Crystal Palace 1-1 Brighton & Hove Albion, Premier league 2019/20.
Bearing in mind Palace are Brighton’s arch rivals, this is my review of Selhurst.
The stadium is certainly has an old school feeling about it, judging by the bricks and rust. A notable stand is the two-tiered Holmesdale Road stand, which looks decent making the three other stands feel small.
Some seating areas are ok but others aren’t so good. If sitting towards the back, you can’t see the main stand due to the overhanging roof. There is the odd support pillar as well.
The concourse is strange to say the least! There’s a covered concourse and an open area which can be an issue if it rains! The open concourse has large speakers blasting out loud music. However, they’re not connected to the main PA system, so fans are bombarded with different songs.
The open concourse reminds me of a large pub garden party!
The main problem (If your reading this as a Brighton supporter and saying “finally!â€) is there are limited toilets facilities which can cause a long queue.
Very good
As you would expect for any derby, large number of reinforcements were required. They were professional from start to finish.
It was a sell out and red hot with both home and away supporters singing their hearts out.
