Non-league football is increasingly becoming the home of homogenised, sterile, dull grounds with fences around the outside, plastic pitches and goalposts on wheels. Studley is another of these. I understand the need for pitches to be multi-purpose in 2022 but it's just not for me.
If you don't mind getting the bus, it's not too bad. Easy enough to get to from Redditch. If you're a train man then it's a bit harder. Train only goes as far as Redditch. The rest you'll have to make up on foot and unless it's a day time kick off, I wouldn't recommend it. It's 3 miles.
There is only one stand. It has views partially blocked by the dugouts and if anyone stands in front of you, you can't see because the stand is so low down. I opted to stand up for most of the game, which was easy enough. Crowd was under 100.
There's a clubhouse, which is how you get into the ground. It doubles as a social club and has a bar with food. It's where everyone goes to get warm at half time. However there's a long walk back to the ground past Solihull's training pitches. It's so long we missed a goal on 46'.
Very quiet but at least there was some celebrations for the Studley goals.
