I went to see Nuneaton Boro vs. Stockport County in a pre-season friendly at Liberty Way. Obviously that will factor into how the atmosphere was.
It's a long walk from the train station, around 1.6 miles, or 32 minutes walk. There is a bus but that takes around the same amount of time. We drove to the game and parked on a side road on the adjacent industrial estate. That made ease of exit a non-issue, although it was quite a long stroll to get through the car park.
I stood up in the home end. The terracing is comfortable enough, with plenty of bars to lean on. The view was good and going to the top of that end creates an almost perfect angle to watch the game from. A shame the same option isn't available from the side. The one side is completely undeveloped and there's no cover.
We queued for ages for food and there was a queue for the whole game. They didn't seem that organised, with one taking orders, one processing them and another guy on the grill. The food was basic; burgers and chips and they were doing a roaring trade. The chips were rubbish but the burger was ok.
It was dead at the home end, albeit pre-season, but I've given it a boost because the Stockport fans sang their little, freshly promoted to the league, hearts out. Bless them.
