After living in Glasgow's southside for years, I finally got around to visiting the former home of Glasgow's third biggest team, Third Lanark. While the grandstand was demolished in the 1970s, much of the terracing still exists around three sides of the ground and the pitch is well maintained by the city. I was a little disappointed that there isn't anything to commemorate the history of the stadium, no information boards or anything like that. There was a plaque above the south terrace, but nothing that hinted towards football at all.
I managed to catch a 9s game between two local youth clubs, purely so that I can say that I've seen competitive football played at Cathkin Park! Definitely worth a visit, especially if you brush up on the history beforehand, so that you can get a proper appreciation for the place.
Within walking distance of both Crosshill and Mount Florida railway stations, some limited parking on Cathcart Road.
Pitch is in relatively good condition, although it looked a bit bobbly. Great views, although much of the terracing is still in a state of disrepair.
No facilities whatsoever, all were demolished many moons ago.
