"My least favourite ground anywhere"

This ground is not suitable for staging football. I would not recommend it unless you are a visiting fan and particularly want to see your team play there, or a groundhopper who has to go there once. If I were a home fan I would miss Ainslie Park.

Football pitches inside athletics tracks generally make for a poor spectator experience, but at least there was good elevation at Gateshead and at Don Valley (when Rotherham played there). At the old Wembley there would be a good atmosphere too.

At Chelmsford City there are also terraces right behind the goal, if you want to be nearer the action than in the decent Main Stand. Meadowbank Sports Centre has none of these.

Location

The location is in a pleasant part of Edinburgh, close to Holyrood Park. For an evening match I found nearby residential parking, and even the main road (the A1) was an option right outside. An afternoon match or one with any sizeable crowd might make parking more difficult.

If you stand behind the goal you are at ground level a long way from the action, and the same applies in the three rows of seats - very little elevation, even in the back row. The view from the front row is hampered by a railing at eye level, unless you are very tall or very short. If it rains you are liable to get wet in the first row or two.

Food & Drink

A burger van appeared to offer quite a few fast food and drink options, and was doing a brisk trade considering how small the crowd was when I attended.

Atmosphere

Despite the best efforts of a group of youngsters behind one goal, supporting FC Edinburgh, there was very little atmosphere. It is hard to imagine there ever being such a thing at this venue in its normal configuration.
