SV Darmstadt 98 v Holstein Kiel - Saturday, 28th October 2017 - Bundesliga 2
Next year the ground is going to be greatly changed, with major work on all four sides. Details were in the programme. Nearly a full house, for a decent game. The ground has character, which I hope is not lost.
The ground is on the outside of town. Lots of free on-street parking on one side of it, countryside on the other side. Bus routes nearby.
We sat behind one goal, behind a net and behind a pillar. View ok. Terrace behind the other goal, along one side and the main stand on the other side. The current ground is built on the old concrete bowl.
Plenty of toilets.
Several fan shops.
Programme for one euro.
A few kids activities going on as well.
Typical German ground, full of beer stalls and food stalls. Good variety. Good prices. We have to have a bratwurst at a German game, these were excellent.
All kicked off at the start of the second half. Ten home ultras goy through a gate and raided the Kiel compound. They legged it, but it somewhat upset the Kiel ultras. They stormed another gate, repelled by the stewards. Riot police deployed and a chase ensued with ultras running away from the police. Amazingly, everyone else just carried on as if nothing had happened. For us, there was no issues.
Excellent in the first half, both sets of ultras were loud. Flatter in the second half as the Kiel ultras never came back!
The supporters around us were fine. Atmosphere on the concourses and outside was good.
