FC Metz v Chamois Niortais - Ligue 2 - Friday, 1st April 2016
A typical French match day experience. Two-nil home win in an uninspiring game, but the Niortais defence was terrible.
The ground is over a mile walk from the city centre, in a suburb. There is controlled parking nearly, but free parking on the other side of the river, about ten minutes walk from the ground.
We sat in the top tier of the two-tier main stand. Good uninterrupted view. However the seats have no backs and there is nothing to hold on to, so not the best for those unsteady on their feet. The stand opposite has one tier, the stands behind the goals two and three tiers, but the top tiers of those stands were not open.
The ladies have to walk pass the urinals to get to their toilets. Good club shop under the main stand. The Box Office is large and on the concourse.
A number of food outlets outside the ground, seemed popular and reasonably priced. Coffee inside the ground was good and two euros. You need to buy tokens inside the ground to exchange for drinks.
We spoke to a couple of stewards who were helpful. Searched on way in, but that was disorganised and not well done. Police stood around outside of the ground.
Unusually, there are two sets of singing home fans, behind each goal. They seemed to be completely different and unconnected. However, as both sang throughout, the atmosphere was good. The away support numbered five, but they did bring a flag!
