"Dirty ground, but with great supporters, apart from a few drunks."

andy-s' review of Ostseestadion (Das Neue)

FC Hansa Rostock v SC Preußen Münster - Friday, 5th August 2016 - 3.Liga
This was one of the dirtiest grounds that I have visited, especially given that it was the first game of the season, I would have expected some cleaning to have taken place. However, the fans are mostly great, the atmosphere good and the football was alright too.

Location

Easy to find ground, with some car parks close by. We parked about 800 yards from the ground, at which distance there is plenty of free parking. It seemed to be on a number of bus routes, although the road next to the ground was closed to traffic. The ground is on the outside of town, but still easy cycle distance from the centre.

View

We asked for good seats, but were given ones behind a pillar. If you get a seat, check the view as those at the back of the stand have restricted views. However, the view was alright and did not interfere with the game too much. The seats were fine, but filthy; badly needed a power wash.
The view became limited by a group of drunken supporters, in their twenties and thirties, who stood against the barrier at the entrance to the stand. They were asked to sit down by fans, but were too arrogant to do so. Not nasty or rude, just selfish idiots.

Facilities

Good fan shop in a van outside the ground, which sold programmes for a euro.
Toilets were fine, if not that clean.

Food & Drink

Not to many stall outside the ground, but enough inside at reasonable prices and quality.
There were a few supporters clubs/bars near the training pitches, not many other such places.

Police & Stewards

No Police in the ground, just seemed to do the road closures. Hardly saw a steward, apart from the one on the entrance who repeatedly asked the idiots to sit down. He was ineffective, never sought assistance and never resolved the problem.

Atmosphere

The singing section of home fans were great, lively, jumping, dancing and entertainment in themselves. They do a strange dance having taken off their t-shirts. They all had the same white t-shirts, clearly very dedicated and organised. The real fans around us were good fans, just the handful of idiots making an issue.
