VBS Vitesse v SV Zulte-Waregem - Thursday, 2nd November 2017 - Europa League - group stage
Excellent ground, with retractable pitch. Match played with the roof closed, creating a good atmosphere, if a bit smoky after flares were let off and the smoke had no where to go.
The ground is across the river from the city centre, just off the main roads. Plenty of car parks, for ten euros. No free on-street parking next to the ground, so we had about two-thirds of a mile walk. Plenty of cycle paths, obviously, which were well used.
Excellent unrestricted view from our seats and looked the same in the other three stands.
Enough toilets all clean.
Good fanshop.
You have to buy a stadium card for food and drink, in units of five euros. The cards and top-ups available from machines, with an English language option. Food and drink fine, but impossible to spend exactly five or ten euros; important as there are no refunds.
All stewards were fine. Long search queues for the behind the goal seats, none in the main stand and no searches.
Great away support throughout, helped by a two-nil win.
Home supporters were great sports. They had been given yellow flags to wave. After two sendings off, two disallowed goals, offsides and booking, every time they made an attacking forward pass, they mocked the officials by waving and shouting for offsides. It was so funny and so apt.
