I think this is a really nice little ground with great facilities that suit the size and stature of the club. It's easy to find and get to and is really pleasant once inside. The view is very close to the action that is good if you like that sort of thing but not so if you want to see what's happening down the other end of the pitch. The food was also very good, all locally sourced and at a very reasonable price.
The only downsides where that there are only two turnstiles for away fans so it took a long time to get into the ground and I made it just before kickoff. The only other thing is the atmosphere is wanting at this ground. Some of the home fans are quite vocal but it doesn't have much of an impact and for the rest it seems as if for many fans it is there one game of the year like as it would be for a cup tie against a bigger opponent.
The ground is nicely located about a mile from the station that makes for a nice little walk and there is a bus service that takes you there if you don't want to walk. It's extremely easy to find.
The view of the pitch is quite good, though as an away fan you're always going to be very low down and close to the action due to the size of the stadium so it can make it difficult to see what is happening at the other end of the pitch.
Though I didn't use the toilets everything seemed nice and clean though some of the concourses were a bit cramped.
The only downside about this was the queue which was quite long, especially when you can see the catering for the facilities for the home fans about 5 meters away where there is no queue. However, it was worth the wait as the burger I had was really nice and a fair size too and at a very reasonable price.
The police and stewards seemed non existent which is how it should be and there was very little for them to do. Those that I did come across tried to keep everything jolly and lighthearted.
The atmosphere at Crawley Town is strange for League 1. Because of the size and design of the stadium the whole place has the feel of a non league team hosting a bigger team in the FA Cup but one that is slightly subdued because it's been played 100 times before. There isn't that much noise and everyone is really friendly and it almost feels as if it is many of the home team fans' one game of the year.
That's not meant to be disparaging to the club or the fans I think it more the way the stadium is designed and the quick ascension of the club through the divisions from non league.
