I have to rate Molineux as one of my favourite away days I've had. It's an impressive looking stadium outside and in and it has a lot going for it. I was kind of hoping this would be the case before I went and I wasn't disappointed.
The ground itself is fantastically located near the city centre and only 15 minute walk from the train station. Wolves are obviously a big old club with a lot of history and the fans are very passionate. They made a great deal of noise inside the stadium, really supporting their team and the stadium itself seems to amplify the noise very well.
On top of this I would say this is the best view I've had at a football match as an away fan. It's nice to be placed in a stand running along the edge of the touch line with the opportunity to be close to the halfway line. Likewise you can get very close to the action.
The only downside is the price of the catering and for someone who loves tea as much as I do even I had to think twice before parting with £2.30 for a cuppa.
Despite this mere peccadillo I would rate Molineux very highly and would recommend it to everyone as an away day.
I went to this game by train and the walk from the station is simple and shot enough. It's also very close to the town centre so if you want to visit places there before or after the game there is no problem.
The away fans were housed in the Steve Bull Lower tier. The only disappointment of this is the lack of leg room and even for a small person like me I felt slightly knee capped. But, the view from there is probably one of the best I've had as an away fan. You're sat along the touchline possibly close to the halfway line and certainly close to the action.
The concourse underneath the stand is that standard grey concrete car park style, but it is very wide and there is a lot of room for moving about and hanging about to have some food and a drink. The toilets are in a reasonable state but having a dedicated exit and entrance means that there is little problem with congestion. I didn't notice any screens showing any other live games or football which is sometimes quite welcome and also there didn't seem to be enough bins which meant that there was trash and half finished drinks and food everywhere.
I'm afraid to say that this is the only thing that is a bit of a let down. £2.30 for a cup of tea is excessive as is £4.00 for a hot dog. Unfortunately the hot dog was not that nice as the bread was almost stale and I had to throw half of the roll away.
The police were present but understated which I think is fine. The stewards seemed friendly and helpful enough.
The stadium is a great looking stadium from the inside and outside. For the game I went to the home fans were brilliant and despite being a big club in League 1 playing the likes of Leyton Orient they made a lot of noise for almost the entirety of the match. I didn't really talk with any Wolves fans but I thought there was a nice feel about the football club.
