A bit of a higgledy-piggledy old ground that's obviously come about through a process of awkward evolution rather than some purposeful design. I quite like the old fashioned feel of the place though the whole side of pitch which only has corporate boxes is strange.
However, the ground is in a bit of an awkward location and is not a straightforward to find. Further the views are obscured by quite a few posts and the seating is not particularly comfortable.
Whilst the ground is 20 minutes away from the station it isn't quite straightforward to find and the signposting to the ground is not great. There are quite a few shops and food outlets around the ground.
Unfortunately there are a great selection of posts and poles you can sit behind to obscure your view. The seating is not so comfortable and there is very little legroom, even for a small person like me.
You can, however, be very close to the pitch and the action and the other end of the pitch doesn't seem to far away.
The toilets are very small and dingy and the layout of the away stand creates some very tight bottlenecks. There isn't much space generally and it took quite a while to get out of the stand after the game.
I thought the catering was o.k. I didn't have to queue too long for a hot dog and a cup of tea before the game and I thought the prices were good. The hot dog was standard, though the roll was quite small and there was no brown sauce. The general choice for food was quite limited and they wasn't able to provide onions for the hot dog.
I didn't really see much in the way of police and the stewards seemed helpful and enough when pressed though they didn't engage much with the fans.
Not a bad little atmosphere. The ground is quite compact and keeps the noise in very well. There were nearly 8,000 fans in the ground though so I might have expected a bit more atmosphere.
