Being from New England I thought it best to go watch the Revolution play against CF Montréal, (a club & ground which I am very fond of) play at Gillette yet I was very dissapointed.
they brand it as being in Boston but in reality it is about 40 minutes outside of boston. even though they do have lots and lots of parking it is not much good if it is far out from anything.
the seats were fine, obviously they had to close off the upper terraces. with the seats being at a more horizontal angle the view could have been better, it felt like I was farther back than I needed to be.
Gillette stadium has a massive mall with hotels and food all accounted for.
despite the fact that there is a small town's-worth of food right outside the ground it is far out enough to be inconvenient and the crowd control so poor that lines reached farther than they should have
the stewards here were just not there, not to give directions nor to enforce any rules.
the atmosphere was frankly awful. with a quarter of the attendance, even the ultras were chanting very uncreativley REV-O-LUTION hearing that chant at least 200 times drove me mad. the lack of an away end incopporated into the MLS made for an even more unenjoyable experience. the passion would have been more exuberant if the passionate away fans were seperated from the fans who just didn't care
