Lens pride themselves on their fervent support, and seeing (and hearing) the Marek stand in full swing is one of the great sights in football. A steep, imposing stadium, with four separate (and distinctly identifiable) stands, the atmosphere generated, even at lesser attended fixtures, is loud, proud and enjoyable. Add in the vibrant 'sang et or' (blood and gold) colours of the kit, and it all adds up to a memorable stadium experience.
Very close to the town centre, TGV station and with ample (free) parking all round. Set in a park too. What's not to like?
Comfort is one area that lets the ground down. The seats generally don't have backs and aren't in the best condition, common with most French stadia. However, sight lines are good, especially in upper tiers, unless you're right at the very top of a stand, where pillars may obscure the view.
All perfectly functional, if not exciting. Plenty of concourse space behind each stand.
A nice selection of flavours at the friterie and hotdog stand; reasonably priced by football stadium standards.
Can seem a little intimidating on the way in with all the heavy police presence and body searching, but they seem to keep an excitable crowd at bay when trouble threatens.
The main reason for going! The ground generates an excellent atmosphere, even when only half full.
