LLPaulJ has rated Anfield 3.5 out of 5.
I've been to Anfield twice: one international match (Wales v Italy) and one club match (Liverpool v Cardiff City). On both occasions it was all about the away fans, who seemed to generate far more atmosphere.
Definitely one of the classics, but starting to feel like a bit of a dinosaur since the demise of The Kop; you can understand the club's desire to move to pastures new.
Not situated in the most pleasant area of Liverpool and the traffic came to a standstill for some time on the final stretch. Apparently this is a common occurence. Not the club's fault but well worth getting there early. Also if you're parking in the nearby residential area and one of the local kids offers to "look after your car" for a fee, move on.
Depends on largely on where you're sat, however there is an overhang at the away end which obscures the view of the far goal if you're too high up.
Concourse is clean enough; standard fare.
No alcohol served at the match (Wednesday evening kick-off). Not impressed as it was nigh on impossible to get a drink in the pubs surrounding the stadium too. Pies were overcooked and dry; unpleasant all round.
Friendly, informative and unthreatening; made for a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
Like most of the "big clubs", expectation of victory has resulted in a muted atmosphere from the home supporters. Not what I expected, however the sound generated by the away support was excellent.
