ECFC97 has rated Field Mill 3.0 out of 5.
After boarding an alternate, but certainly pleasurable form of travel via mini-bus up to Field Mill the day seemed to be heading off to a good start. The drive up is a very easy one from Exeter as it is nearly all motorway and the roads were being nice to us so it only took just under 4 hours.
What to do before the game?:
As my friends and I arrived a lot early than expected we thought that the day would drag until kick off which was a huge 2 and a half hours away, however just outside the ground there is a retail park which is full of shops from McDonalds to Tescos, so that provided lunch and also a chance to wonder about the shops. As well as this retail park there is a wide variety of pubs along the streets leading up to the ground that all seem very friendly from the outside and had Tv's so that you could watch the 12:45 kick off if you arrived early.
The Ground - Outside:
Outside Field Mill there is a fair but to do before kick off. You can firstly visit the Mansfield Trophy cabinet as well as look around the building which is of a high standard for a newly promoted Sky Bet league 2 side. Outside there is a pretty small club shop and just behind from that inside there is a social lounge which has hot food , beers , ciders , soft drinks , live football and a table which allows you to buy badges and programs to commemorate your trip.
The Ground - Inside:
Being an Exeter fan any away end is fantastic compared to ours , but this stands was probably one of the nicest stands I've visited whilst travelling with Exeter as it was a very good size and the seats were spread nicely apart from one and other so that you had some leg room. The stewards were pretty nasty and couldn't seem to respect the gesture from our fans of the HUGE Adam Stansfield a flag that we had brought to commemorate the third anniversary of his untimely death and wouldn't let us display in its full, as it obstructed a walk way that no fans would be using as we were all sat on the other side of the stand , but we did our best to show it off even if the stewards were being unfair!
Food:
The food that I eventually received was a really nice warm sausage roll , however it took around 15 minuets to come as the staff had a huge problem with a tea machine that looked like it was on its last legs in the 90's which caused a huge delay from every customer. The food that was on offer was of a a decent variety as well as teas , coffees , Bovril's , soft drinks and Beers served in plastic bottles.
The Game:
Both teams wanted the three points but a draw was fair and both sets of supporters made themselves known to one and other throughout the match , which is always good for the players if there is an atmosphere to play under. Some decent efforts saw both back lines stretched at times but the finishing was poor. The game ended 0-0 which was annoying not to see a goal or two but it was an enjoyable 0-0 with lots of action.
The Journey home was as easy as the way up and provided no interruptions. Overall i would give the day an 8 out of 10 as the ground and Game were of a good standard , however a few goals would of helped and also if the stewards weren't being difficult it would of been more fun! I'm not ruling out a return in the future!

Nicely placed easy to get to and not in the middle of any huge roads!
The Pitch was of a high standard, the turf was nice and the ball didn't slip around a lot!
