Really enjoyed this visit, although the game was a bit of a scrappy affair
Ferry from IoM to Heysham. Was worried about train connection to Burnley due to strikes, but shouldn't have worried there were no issues, all on time. Train Heysham to Preston, then Preston to Burnley. Then a bus from Burnley to Padiham. All dead easy, comfortable and on time. Cobbled streets around the ground, leading to the Hare & Hounds for a pint. Great incentive on the gate of (another) pint + Pie + entrance for £10.
Covered terraces on three sides with a club house in one corner. Traditional old turnstile leads in directly behind one goal at the cricket pitch end, which turns out to be the 'higher' as the ground pitch slopes away diagonally towards the town end and a view out over Padiham. A couple of basic stand down one side where the dugouts are. Two seated stands opposite that one. Bit of a 'hotch potch' to be honest, but would have that all day compared to identikit grounds nowadays.
Decent clubhouse. Busy bar. Decent hot food and hot/cold drinks, which could be eaten outside. Very good match day programme £2.50 for 40 pages, could grace the EFL easily. Nice set of badges available.
Whoops ... answered this above. F&D were spot on and good value.
No police, but the stewards were all decent sorts. Ready for a chat.
170 ish probably. Good craic in the area around the clubhouse. All round a good night, even though the game was a bit scrappy
