1973 has rated Oakfield 5.0 out of 5.
This is where I found my love for football, so many good times, ex league players i.e. the chance to watch John Charles for Hereford.
Last league game played here was St Georges Day 1973 with victory vs Kidderminster followed by an unexpected win at Merthyr, then the end. The very last game was a testimonial for sponge man Bob Ward.
Unfortunately some books etc seem to entwine the Tangerine Rugby Town history with today's Rugby Town (VS Rugby) but they were totally different clubs.
Bilton Road, Rugby....Park on main road....wouldn't get away with it today....i understand that after nearly 50 years of being a field it will finally be built on.....
Not the biggest gates in the Southern League so always a good view
Seemed ok for a junior school kid
I'm sure you got better value back then, Dad never complained
No stewards, 1 Policeman....no violence, non league has a lot going for it....
Always good, lots of songs and full of unfounded optimism...but never having a go at either teams or fans...civilised...
